I would say 38 too not by its difficulty in itself but for how lost and obssess we got around other things

Hmmm, for me there is not one most difficult level, there are some very difficult ones.
13 would have been impossible for me to solve without a lot of help, since I don't play chess at all.
24 was very difficult, because upon the clues many different directions were possible, and I would have never thought of what you wanted. Without your hint, I don't think we would have gotten it.
38 took us long - it would have been easier, but we've tried other things for a long time

I hated 17 as it was too involved and the other one I didn't like, can't remember the number was the complicated one about the speed of light. Number 12 I found tricky as in the UK we call that something different.

Hide and seek (11) was my first "challenge", and I don't know how I got stuck at 00001, 00100, 00111 (28), but probably Interchange finale (50) was the one I burnt out my brain to guess.

For some reason, I found out the most difficult part of Cave of Knowledge (38) incredibly fast and, after a few hours without thinking about it, *bingo* figured out.
